Pluto in Capricorn 2008-2024
Pluto, the planet of transformation will be in Capricorn from now until 2024. We are entering a period of fast-paced collective societal change. Pluto’s exposure of hidden abuses of power, money and sexuality are the most potent in the first ten degrees of the 30 degrees of a sign, in this case Capricorn. Traditionally, Capricorn energies, represented by Saturn rule structures and male energies; leadership, governments, businesses, corporations, buildings, the earth’s crust, nations, the patriarch, karmic responsibilities, work, the rules or laws, tradition and the elders. So, as we ventured into 2008, we experienced the beginning of the exposures of the abuses in these areas. Pluto also represents shifts in mass consciousness, subtly or not. We are in the process of the breaking down of the 2,150 year Piscean Age, the Patriarchal rule and the birthing of the Aquarian Age. There is no way to mark this transition with an exact date. Many astrologers believe we began this process in the 1960’s.

November 4th, 2008 Americans elected a President who represents Aquarian ideals and values. November 4th was the first Saturn in Virgo, representing the old guard opposing Uranus in Pisces, representing change as a result of the needs of the masses. We will revisit these energies via Saturn’s retrograde movement opposing Uranus on Feb. 5th. Obama and his administration will have been in office two weeks by this date. February promises to be a month of great change and adjustments. Expect to see the new administration reverse many of the Bush doctrines during this time. The final Saturn in Virgo opposition to retrograde Uranus in Pisces Sept. 15th, 2009 will signal another round of changes. The health of our economy has a global impact. It is also, unrealistic to expect this new administration to stop an express train on a 40 year track from going over the cliff in six months time. We are in a period of deflation and the leveling of American wages with international worker wages.   A move toward a new, more balanced world order will be born in the coming years.  However, in the birthing process labor and delivery are rarely easy. It’s work.
Pluto’s entry in to Capricorn Jan. 25th, 2008 until January 21, 2024 signals the exposure of abuses and the breakdown of the old order, the patriarch, business and corporations, governments, organizations, institutions, borders, laws, property and resource rights, wealth distribution, investments, the media, the environment, recycling, civil rights, marital rights, aging, traditions and societal norms. We will experience intense challenges from the earth itself in the form of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, powerful storms, rising waters on our coasts, and flooding. The next five years will be the most intense phase of the breakdown process. However, Pluto transits include regeneration as the Phoenix rising from the ashes.

Pluto has a 248 year orbit and was last in Capricorn from Nov., 1762 – Dec. 1778. Pluto rules the mass consciousness and represents an evolutionary imperative to destroy anything which has outlived its purpose. The American Revolution and the Boston Tea Party, the assignation of Czar Ivan IV, confiscation of church lands in Russia, the abolition of the Inquisition in France, the beginning of a worldwide Industrial Revolution, launching free trade, civil liberties, and technological developments were a few of the events during Pluto’s transit through Capricorn in 1762-1778.

Pluto mandates a fearless inquiry into how we manage our power, money and sexuality. Wars drain and destroy resources. Middle class America is disappearing and so is the tax base paying for this corrupt government. Corporate welfare and financial bailouts for the rich can are no longer fiscally feasible. Corporate media blaming poor people and the middle class for not being financially responsible is outrageous.  Realistically, 30 years of repressed wages coupled with cost of living increases, loss of medical benefits, loss of pension benefits, etc., has more to do with middle income families’ current plight. Americans are hard working, educated, innovative and proud.
On the other side of the reality coin, corrupt corporate owned government officials have quietly passed policies supporting the rich over the past 30 years. In the meantime, small businesses which used to be the backbone of this country are closing at an alarming rate, unable to compete with big box retailers and services. Trickle-down theory doesn’t work. The MBA’s practices of only considering the quarterly bottom line profits don’t support long term needs for stability of the workers, the education systems, nor the infrastructure of the country. Good government takes care of these needs for the good of the people and the good of the country.
