2011 Overview

The major themes for 2011 are the planetary shifts into closure and completion cycles in Pisces (Chiron, Ceres, and Neptune) AND passionately birthing new directions in Aries (Jupiter and Uranus). We experienced a preview with Jupiter and Uranus moving into Aries last May/June, 2010. Humanity is ready for things to change for the better.

We continue the breakdown/exposure of abuses of power in business, governments, the environment, structures in our lives and beliefs with Pluto in Capricorn 2008-2024. (More on this on my website home page)

Uranus, the planet of revolutionary change, the God of Chaos, joins Jupiter and moves into Aries (Fire) March 11, 2011 adding fuel to the fire to breakdown old, abusive, and stifling structures. Now is the time to move into the new egalitarian structures offering more freedom and opportunity for creativity.  Patience is gone!

Jupiter revisits Aries Jan. 22-June 4th before entering grounded, earthy Taurus for the rest of 2011(more on this in later writings). Aries energies inspire us to expand in new directions based on our individual passions. Jupiter seeks higher truth, justice and inspires us to courageous actions and leaps of faith. Aries energies are fearless, spontaneous, impulsive and sometimes selfish. We want to be seen, heard and valued right now!Whether we are ready for change or not these energies just might demand it.

Grassroots collaborations will emerge to create solutions where governments can’t or won’t. Anger, rage, outrage and violence may be a part of these energies as frustrations will no longer be repressed. The world becomes a dangerous place when the masses feel they have no options, no one is listening and the cards are all stacked against them. Basic survival fears fuel desperate actions for some.  Leadership would be better to be pro-active in meeting the needs of the people at this time, but may be too out of touch to see the writing on the wall.

The USA and President Barack Obama’s charts continue to show high levels of challenge domestically and abroad. We will continue to see the devaluation of money, property and quality of life in the USA. A jobless recovery is not a recovery, and unfortunately there are no new regulations to keep Wall Street, the Banks and the corporations from sucking the money and jobs out of the country.

New businesses will emerge this year in the areas of technology, science, environmental cleanup, clean water technologies, drugs, energy and healthcare. Some states, like California will lead the way in innovation, restructuring to stabilize their economies and offer great hope! Both home and commercial real estate markets will continue to drag down the economy unless measures are taken to restructure both. Financial markets and stock markets will continue to be the high risk roller coaster ride, but will take monthly hits this year with the greatest risk of loss early May, early July, mid-Sept., October-Feb. 2012. It’s not going to be pretty….

President Bush’s trade agreements with China (and President Clinton’s NAFTA and other free trade agreements) have flooded this country with cheap products, bankrupting the few remaining small businesses attempting to compete.  Corporations have fled the USA to build new factories in China and other third world countries because they can, for cheap, unprotected labor, unprotected environment which offer increased profitability. The American workers have few Union advocates left and in danger of becoming the next third world county. The consequences of unregulated capitalism and greed come home to roost.

However, the drum beat of scape-goating unions and public worker pensions has been slowly increasing in volume over the past few years. Corporations have managed to break most pension funds through bankruptcy. The truth will continue to be drowned out by the constant onslaught of lies, spin and redirection. Most government workers earn less than their private sector colleagues, but do the work of the people over a lifetime in order to have the security of the pension to support them in retirement. These pensions are NOT excessive! Teachers unions are also under attack in this process. Underfunding of public education over the past 30 years is the culprit, not bad teachers or excessive salaries and pensions. But, the neo-cons know, if you scream a lie loud enough and often enough it becomes truth.

The major banks continue to refuse to restructure home mortgages or loan money to individuals and small businesses even though they were bailed out with tax payer monies two years ago. This is one area we may begin to see more grassroots collaborations to create small local banks designed to help.  We’ll see if the recent tax breaks for the rich loosen credit for individuals, small businesses and stimulate new jobs. Reagan’s Trickle-Down theory has been debunked by economists globally and only works to increase the wealth of the rich.

This is the year the cosmic pendulum will begin waver and then begin to swing slowly back toward balance. Organized demands for real consumer protections, fair market practices, available and affordable healthcare, safe/clean food, water, air, environmental laws and practices, protection of our homes/property through homestead acts and much more will be demanded and hopefully, implemented when the people realize governments, corporations and leadership do not have their best interests at heart.

Historically, these planetary configurations have triggered shifts in the collective, stimulating movements demanding revolutionary change! Women’s Suffrage, Gandhi’s civil disobedience movement in India, FDR’s New Deal including the reorganization of the Federal Reserve and the establishment of Social Security were all results of the last time Uranus passed through Aries (1927-35). There is hope!

However, the cosmic lineup of the Asteroids (the repressed archetypes of the feminine) including Chiron (the wounded healer moving into Pisces), Ceres (nurturance-food/herbs, security, all moving into Pisces/Aries represents a major need to focus on safe food, water, air, healthcare and inclusion of the feminine qualities on the planet.

Pallas Athena (the warrioress/strategist) travels with Pluto in Capricorn challenging leadership, corporations, and governments to include holistic strategies, the needs of women and children and all things which create security (home, food, water, jobs). However, the powers that be are also strategizing to continue to deny and repress these issues. Pallas Athena is a lover not a fighter, but when backed into a corner she will stand up courageously to the abusers of power. We will see individuals in all areas of life step into this archetype in coming years.

Juno (commitment/betrayal/abuse of the feminine )in Virgo challenges us to pay attention to the details in our process of reconsidering, restructuring and breaking down the old ways to facilitate inclusion and commitment to create healthier, more balanced processes. Women need to be included in the restructuring. The matrix of feminine are defined as nurturance, protection, emotions as guidance, intuition, caring of family, food and home. These qualities are essential to the survival of humanity and the protection of our planet. The shadow or repression of these energies manifests as self-indulgent and self-sacrifice, or victim/martyr. Juno in Virgo brings our collective attention to the needs of the abused, betrayed and asks us to commit to healing these betrayals with honesty, integrity, and basic fairness. She challenges us to look carefully at ourselves and our lives to discover where we need to take back our power and end cycles of dependency.

Neptune, moving into his ruling sign of Pisces for the next 16 years last traveled through Pisces in 1847-1861, shortly after the planet was discovered. During that period humanity experienced many social movements, including women’s suffrage, the rise of Theosophy and Marxism, the development of photography, glamour and the telegraph, the US Civil War (1861-65) over the abolition of slavery, the first oil wells, the California Gold Rush, the rise of spiritual mystical experiences and global financial crisis.

Neptune’s return to his ruling sign ensures this period will make the global financial meltdown of 1929, the resultant governmental interventions on behalf of the people, the elevation of the rights of women and the environment, the 60’s anti-war movements, regulation of corporations and financial institutions of the past, look like minor hiccups in comparison. We could be looking at a Constitutional Convention, a restructuring of the IRS and Tax codes, etc. in the USA in the not too distant future.

We will experience intensification in the breakdown process this year and a necessary urgency to create new solutions to individual and global problems. The veils of secrecy, illusion and deception will be ripped away as denial is no longer an option. Wiki Leaks has emerged as one instrument of this process. Corporate media will be exposed for lack of integrity and true investigative reporting. The people deserve the truth, not media or political spin reported as “news”. Non-profit, community service media like, Democracy Now and other public broadcasting via television and radio need even more community support as the powers that be may attempt to shut down the whistle blowers.

So what’s the good news? These energies also stimulate altruism, compassion and service. Many will find their hearts opening to new vocations serving the needs of the people during this time. Philanthropy will also be expanding as individuals with money, properties and resources answer the call. Others will give unselfishly of time and resources as they can. Foundations and charities may be allowed and/or required to give more than the 10-12% the current USA laws require. Billions sit in non-profit foundations and charities. Exposure, breakdown and the awakening of humanity mean healing and restructuring will begin.

Time is literally speeding up. Our ability to release the old and embrace the new in our lives and world will define the quality of our existence in the coming years. New ideas, inspirations, science, technology, energy, solutions, philanthropy, and medical breakthroughs are highlighted as we move into spring, 2011.

But science or technology alone cannot solve the problems in our world. The incorporation of a triple bottom line (business, society and environment) versus “profit only” motivation is required to create balance. Responsibility has to be spread across the spectrum. Where is the corporate responsibility to rein in CEO salaries, pay for R&D instead of holding out their hands to tax payer subsidies, to pay their fair share of taxes, to invest in education and infrastructure, to pay fair wages and offer benefits that created the once great American Middle Class? Where is the responsibility of the rich to help feed, cloth, educate and house the poor, to offer a hand up? We may begin to see demands for the overhaul of the IRS and tax system in the USA.

We must begin to blend heart and mind, compassion and fairness with responsibility, collaboration versus competition, and support the whole society including environment, infrastructure, education and health care.   Demands for freedom, equality, justice, accountability and integrity are necessary for economic and human survival. Hanging on to the past will become ever more painful and expensive on every level.

We are long overdue for real public dialog regarding the structures of business and government in the USA. Good government cares for the needs of society and infrastructure. Who benefits from the on-going unfunded wars since 1941? America has the largest for-profit prison populations in the world (mostly minorities) paid by tax payer dollars? Who benefits from this insane system? There is no money for rehabilitation in our prisons and few prison-to-work programs.  Who benefits when the only jobs available for our youth are going into the military? Who benefits when education and healthcare are unregulated for-profit corporations?

What if we became the global leader in negotiating PEACECongressman Dennis Kucinich proposed creating a Department of Peace a few years back, which went nowhere. What would happen if we shut down the Pentagon, the military industrial complex profiting from both sides of global conflicts, stopped all our wars and shut down over 960 military bases we have globally? Would we be less safe? Would we have funds for universal health care and free education for all through advanced college degrees? Could we fund development of sustainable transportation, energy and rewire our energy grids? How many American jobs would that create? But the Pentagon budget and ending our global empire building are not even on the table for discussion, even though they are what are bankrupting our country. Social Security is not part of the budget! Social Security is paid into by the people and by businesses matching individual deductions and only needs minor adjustments to be fixed. However, it would not be at risk had President Ronald Reagan not taped into it to fund his war in South America.

A new world order embracing balance, fairness, dissolving boundaries, barriers and differences can begin to be birthed this year. Will American corporations and government fight this or step into global leadership? Astrology offers a global road map signaling beginnings and endings of cycles. This process may take a hundred years, or could be complete by 2024. Humanity has Free Will to a point. How long this process takes depends on us! The Universe is waiting…….

Navigating these times with a semblance of grace and ease is possible, if we live in acceptance of this as a natural completion cycle.  Fear is the enemy and we are fed fear on a daily basis in the corporate media. As we face our fears, we shift from dependence on outside authority to acceptance of personal responsibility in every detail of our daily lives. Miracles can happen and we can become more empowered. New communities, families, and business models will evolve.  Listen to your soul longings and find the courage to follow your dreams.

So, as we launch into this New Year, take a deep breath and remember you are the captain of your ship in the midst of these turbulent seas. Be gentle with yourself and others. As we move into an even more intense and eventful 2011 be the change you want in your life. Find your soul family. Experience the joy of giving and receiving. This may be one of the most important years in human history.  Each of us is an integral part in the evolution of this planet and humanity!
